MSU 76, Texas Southern 41

Tom Izzo was downright Lou Holtz-ish in his evaluation of the SWAC power Tigers. Think Sparky Anderson and Chris Pittaro. The goods for MSU start with 22 assists on 29 baskets. A lot of unselfish play in this game -- and perhaps the BEST ASSIST IN THE HISTORY OF BRESLIN was lost when Derrick Nix's transition, in-stride, behind-the-back, perfectly placed bounce to Branden Dawson was flubbed. Ouch!

On the other side of "903"

Taking in Tom Izzo's comments tonight at the post-game presser and then in the hallway outside the MSU locker room, I was struck by just how different things were in this building a year ago. If you don't recall, here's a refresher. He was not happy at all with what the 2010-11 team was becoming. If there's one thing I take away from New York and this Duke game, it's that he's pretty excited about what this team could become.
