Senior Bowl observations

This is Denny in for Joe. Three MSU players will participate in the upcoming Senior Bowl in Mobile, Ala - a showcase for draft prospects that have concluded their college careers. The trio of Spartan players who will suit up for the game are quarterback Kirk Cousins, tight end Brian Linthicum and safety Trenton Robinson.

One SI.com writer liked what he saw from Cousins and Linthicum during practice on Monday. I thought it was interesting that Cousins outperformed Wisconsin's Russell Wilson that much, especially in terms of arm strength. Not knocking Cousins' arm, but I didn't think when watching both quarterbacks that the arm velocity was that much different.

There are many other Big Ten players that have been evaluated in this article as well. Another surprise was the struggles of Iowa receiver Marvin McNutt, who was one of the best receivers in the league this fall. I had to read "dropped a number of catchable balls" several times to make sure it wasn't a misprint after some of the catches he has made against MSU.
