The latest on Green

Draymond Green limped out of the MSU locker room tonight with a large ice pack on his left knee. He did not want to talk to reporters. He got on the bus and he'll be evaluated further in the morning.

I really don't have a sense on this and won't speculate. We'll know more tomorrow. We know tonight that MSU's title hopes just took a big hit, despite freshman Branden Dawson (12 points, 13 rebounds) stepping up and looking like the best player on the court for much of the night. It's scary how good he will be when he can stick a jumper.

Tom Izzo also was happy with Derrick Nix and Adreian Payne. He wasn't happy with Keith Appling and Brandon Wood. Appling is struggling to hit his shot but also had five turnovers and some costly decisions. On MSU's next-to-last possession, Izzo wanted to get it in to Nix, but Appling pulled it back out and called for the ball screen. The possession went nowhere, as did many of MSU's late possessions. On the last one, Izzo said he wanted Appling to pull up. Appling said Meyers Leonard would have blocked him, so he tried to go around him. He may have had a point, especially considering the way his jumper isn't falling. The last one nearly got in there but didn't.

And now, who knows where this season goes? Much of the answer lies inside that ice pack.
