By the way, for those of you wondering what I decided to do about unemployment compensation — I left the question open in my Jan. 25 column— here’s the plan, for which I give my wife full credit:
I’ll apply for benefits, then donate the $385 or so to a local charity, taking advantage of a standing offer by Gannett (the parent company of the LSJ) to match such contributions.
As I said, it was my wife’s idea. A beauty, eh?
