What is this — National Telephone Rudeness Week?
On Monday I get a call from a woman. Remember — she’s calling me. Five words into her spiel, her call waiting gizmo clicks. She says to me, “Hang on …”, and answers the other call. I don’t hang on — I hang up.
On Tuesday my phone rings. I pick up and hear the voice of a man engaged in a non-phone conversation. When he hears my voice, he says to me, “Hang on …,” then goes back to his primary converstion. I don’t hang on — I hang up.
