Count me among those who like the old Spartan logo better than the new one, which, according to basketball coach Tom Izzo, just about makes me an enemy of the state.
At a press conference Monday Izzo proclaimed his staunch support for the Nike-driven logo change, and questioned the loyalty of anybody who dared to utter a discouraging word against the new logo (on the right).
He called it a tempest in a teapot, but then went on to orate for more than six minutes on the subject.
The LSJ’s Joe Rexrode quoted Izzo as saying: “And I have been mystified, just out of my mind over (the uproar) …”
Is it not possible to worship MSU, MSU sports, and the ground Izzo walks on and still prefer the old logo?
Obviously not.
