My Holy Week struggle

As a life-long Catholic, I’m having more and more difficulty compartmentalizing my faith — separating my belief in the teachings of the church from my revulsion toward an institution that harbors pedophiles.

So, my furlough week went like this:

We won’t have each other to kick around for a week

I’m on furlough until March 29.
Maybe it’s for the best; maybe we need a break from each other; maybe absence will make the heart grow fonder …
Meanwhile, talk amongst yourselves.

Ignite hypocrisy

In a letter to the editor in Tuesday’s paper, Tim Schmitt of Lansing accuses me of “walk(ing) a fine line of xenophobia.”
Why? Because in my critique of Ignite Lansing, I said one of the presentations was “unintelligible.”
