A state Treasury employee sent me a copy of a letter informing workers of two recently introduced bill that would address retirement for state workers and public school employees.
A section of the letter, highlighted in hot pink by the sender says:
“The governor has urged the legislature to pass the bills by April 1, as the legislation provides an April 15-May 15 window for employees to decide if they wish to retire by Oct. 1.
“However, the legislature will be taking a two-week Easter break beginning March 29, which makes it unlikely the April 1 deadline will be met …
The sender asks, also in hot pink: “Wouldn’t you think that, due to the serious career decisions (involved) … the two-week vacation could be delayed, or forgotten?”
What …??? Sacrifice on the part of the legislature …??? That’s just kooky talk.
