The state’s new ban on texting while driving — the one Gov. Granholm so ostentatiously signed into law Friday on the Oprah Winfrey show — is nothing but a cop-out.
It’s like a law that says you can drink beer and wine while driving, but not whiskey.
Research shows that cell phones — in ALL their manifestations — cause drivers to collide with each other. Research shows that talking (never mind texting) on a cell phone while driving, even without holding the phone, is the equivalent of driving with a snoot full.
I wonder what the research shows regarding driving while patting yourself on the back.
