From the Detroit News:
“Attorney General Mike Cox today called new allegations that he was at a long-rumored party in 2002 at Kwame Kilpatrick’s city-owned mayoral residence 'bold-faced lies' and said he has never set foot in the Manoogian Mansion …
“They’re bold-faced lies,” Cox said today.
As you know, the correct term is “BALD-faced lie,” as in an untruth spoken by a man without facial hair. The expression comes from the belief, in earlier centuries, that a man who could pull off a lie without the benefit of whiskers to hide his facial expressions was, indeed, a skillful and audacious liar.
As for Cox and the Manoogian Mansion … that’s a five-o’clock shadow that just won’t go away.
