Let’s see If I’ve got this right:
A man says he was abused by a priest at the St. Vincent children’s home in the 1950s.
The Catholic Diocese folks refuse to acknowledge the deceased priest’s guilt — but write the alleged victim a check for nearly a quarter million dollars ...?
Something in this story doesn’t add up.
It seems to me that either the diocese has reason — beyond one man’s repressed memories — to believe the abuse happened, OR the diocese, understandably shell-shocked, is too quick to write big checks.
