So, I phone AmeriGas to see about taking the company up on its offer to lock in a price for the 500 gallons I'll need to supplement my wood burning. The rep gives me a price: $2.25 per gallon.
"Sounds high," I say. She replies that since I've been a faithful customer, she'll waive the $28 pre-buy fee, which is a penalty, I guess, for allowing the company to use my money for free.
"I'll have to think about that," I say, and, not willing to let a live one get away so easily, she urges me to speak to a more empowered person, who just might give me a better deal.
The call gets forwarded, and the new voice says, "How would you feel about $1.99"?
I don't know. How SHOULD I feel?
