MSU, as you may have heard, will ban all bags — purses, diaper bags, camera cases, seat backs with pockets, etc. — from Spartan Stadium beginning with this fall’s first home game.
University officials say they’re only following the recommendation of the Homeland Security folks, but reader Sandy Irion isn’t buying it. In an e-mail to me she wrote:
“My purse is opened and checked at the basketball games and when I ask what they are looking for they say ‘food.’ Boy, that makes me feel safe. I assumed they were looking for weapons but they only want to make sure I am not smuggling in a candy bar, and not paying for food at the concession stand.
“I’ve asked the question numerous times and always get the same answer so it must be the truth.”
