More on captains and the great QB debate

From MSU: Kirk Cousins is only the second sophomore in Michigan State’s 112-year football history to be named captain. Robert McCurry is the only other sophomore to be named captain, in 1946. McCurry is Michigan State’s only three-time captain (1946-47-48).

Greg Jones. Of course. Blair White. Makes sense. Ross Weaver. A bit of a surprise, but it's probably more surprising that he lost his first-team spot to Jeremy Ware. He's a fifth-year senior and one of the guys who has been asked to lead. Kirk Cousins. Repeat, Kirk Cousins.

News from MSU: First-string DBs

With camp in its final week, secondary coach Harlon Barnett just confirmed his first unit in a loaded defensive backfield, and there are some surprises: Chris L. Rucker (no surprise) and Jeremy Ware (surprise) at starting corners, with Marcus Hyde and Dan Fortener at the starting safety spots. Kendell Davis-Clark is the "star," or nickel back.
