You can head over to Breslin at 2 p.m. for women's senior day, then head home and burn out the Recall button on your remote. It's USA-Canada for the gold at 3 p.m. and MSU-Purdue at 4, with the Spartans essentially playing for a share of the Big Ten title.
Tom Izzo on Robbie Hummel: “The kid’s been everything good for the Big Ten, to be honest with you. He’s on every committee, he’s a good student, he’s a quality guy. After what he went through last year, he was playing great. I look at it as, ‘Are they gonna miss him?’ Well sure they’re gonna miss him. But I also look at it that usually the first game after an injury, that’s win one for the Gipper type thing. … The biggest thing I’d say about it is I feel for the kid, his parents and for Purdue.”
In case you haven't heard, confirmation is trickling in: Robbie Hummel has a torn ACL and will miss the rest of the season.
No word yet on Purdue's Robbie Hummel, who suffered what could be a season-ending knee injury Wednesday night at Minnesota.
Note to Kalin Lucas: Really, no need to apologize for bailing on interviews after Sunday's game. Athletes do it all the time, it was more than understandable considering the circumstances -- and honestly, who cares about us anyway?! Under-informed, over-fed.
First of all, let's hear it for Ryan Miller and Team USA. Arsenio woofs and corndogs all around. Also, kudos to Suzy Merchant and the MSU women's team for a huge upset at Ohio State. Finally, hold on just one second, those of you who want to mock the pollsters who put this MSU men's team in the preseason top 5.
("4 Sticks" is another song title I've pondered, let me know, TIA). Illinois had a real chance at Purdue, but the Boilermakers made the plays and the shots late. The Fighting Illini are out of the race with five losses. MSU can make it a two-team deal by beating Ohio State today.
The spot vacated when Dan Enos took the head job at Central Michigan has been filled.
Not 25 or 6 to 4 (anyone know what that means, by the way? I've been wondering since the late '70s). After Wisconsin's lopsided loss at Minnesota tonight, you can basically call this a four-team Big Ten race.
