Jars of Clay Coming to Lansing - Concert News

Jarsofclay_shelter

Since coming on the national scene in 1995 with their platinum-selling debut, the guys of Jars of Clay have been at the forefront of contemporary Christian music. With each new release, the band reinvents itself and pushes the limits musically, with albums that favor everything from synth and keyboards-heavy tunes to British alt-pop to straight-ahead rock and roll. In the process, they’ve picked up three Grammy Awards, heaps of Dove Awards and sold 6 million albums.

Guitarist Matthew Odmark took the time to chat with me about the band’s new release, "Jars of Clay Presents the Shelter," due out Oct. 5.

"Several of us had homes affected in the flood, and space where we had been recording record the whole album was in a major floodway," Odmark says. "Most of the first flood was filled with water, but we were able to get some irreplaceable things up to the second story. But we lost merchandise and old vintage instruments that we weren’t able to move in time."

See the band play live along with Brandon Heath on Saturday, Oct. 9, at Great Lakes Christian College with proceeds benefiting non-profit organizations Blood:Water Mission and Food for the Hungry.

See some great bands and help out some awesome causes. With only 1,000 tickets available, count on this show to sell out.

Look for a full interview with Odmark in next week’s NOISE. xoxo
