Lansing Music: The Plurals, Narc Out the Reds, More to Take Part in Thursday's Benefit Show
Several area bands will take part in a special benefit show for the son of a slain soldier at Mac’s Thursday, June 2.
Marine Lance Cpl. Andrew Carpenter passed away February 19 of wounds received Feb 14 in the Helmand Province of Afghanistan. His wife, Crissie, was one month away from giving birth to their first child. Crissie gave birth to their baby boy, Landon, on March 18.
Andrew’s cousins Shawn and Mark Semen of former Lansing bands MK Ultra Culkin and Gaytar are spearheading this benefit show to help Crissie in her time of need. Both bands will reunite just for the occasion. The rest of the line-up includes Narc Out the Reds, Fun Ender and the Plurals.
Tommy McCord, singer and guitarist in the Plurals, is more than pleased to lend his talents to the cause: “I can't imagine how difficult it must be for a family to deal with the grief of losing a father in a war, so we’re glad to help any way that we can.”
The Plurals just released a new album, “The Plurals Today, The Plurals Tomorrow: A Futurospective.” On it, the Lansing-based band epitomizes the free-thinking, independent ethics that shaped the spirit of punk rock, with a ‘90s era alt-pop influence that’s catchy and inviting.
