Weekend Riff: Middle Class Rut at The Loft, Reunion Show for Lansing's Cadillac Casket, 'Weird Al' at Soaring Eagle
Lansing Music: Middle Class Rut, 'Weird Al,' Lansing guys Cadillac Casket and the Sunset Club are in town this weekend
-Friday: "Weird Al" Yankovvic is famed for brilliantly trivializing the biggest musical hits, everything from arena rock to new wave to gangsta rap. He headlines Soaring Eagle Casino & Resort in Mount Pleasant Friday, and read an exclusive interview with "Weird Al" in this week's NOISE.
-Also Friday: If you dig alternative rock, chances you’ve already heard Middle Class Rut's (above) hit track, “New Low,” on Lansing’s 94.1-FM The Edge. The catchy anthem off the band’s new album, “No Name No Color,” is currently top 5 on the alternative rock chart, and the buzz is heavy enough to have scored the Sacramento, Calif., guys a “2011 Artist to Watch” pick by MTV.
Catch the band before they blow up Friday, May 27, at The Loft in Lansing. Lansing-based Fusion Shows presents the show.
-Saturday: East Lansing-based Cadillac Casket rocks tough with a combination of metal, progressive and acoustic. While the four-piece spent their first three years playing in and around Lansing, since then, several members have moved to Chicago. The guys play a special hometown show Saturday, May 28, at the Loft in Lansing.
Lansing's the Sunset Club, who brings together the best of Led Zeppelin and Tool, opens.
