Common Ground Ticket Price Goes Up Friday

Common Ground Discount Tickets Still Available

Lansing’s Common Ground Music Festival is currently offering 7-day tickets for $79, but that discounted price will shoot up to $89 July 1. Single-day tickets are also looking at a hike, from their current price ($29 to $30 variable) to $35.

“Common Ground Music Festival has always been one of the Midwest’s best bargains,” festival director Kevin Meyer said. “...At $89, we’re still a staggering deal. $13 doesn’t buy a movie and popcorn anymore but even after 12 years, it still buys an entire night of Common Ground.”

Headliners for this year's festival include Trey Songz (July 11), Rick Springfield (July 12), the Charlie Daniels Band and Aaron Lewis of Staind (July 13), Lynyrd Skynyrd (July 14), Theory of a Deadman (July 15), LL Cool J (July 16) and Melissa Etheridge (July 17). Find addition information on Common Ground's official website.

U2's the Edge Talks 360 Tour and Writing New Songs [VIDEO]

How-to-dismantle-an-atomic-bomb In this Rolling Stone video, U2 guitarist the Edge talks about how the band's 360 Tour has progressed from a promotional tour for their “No Line on the Horizon” album to a platform to perform U2’s three decades of work.

“We're in that stage of just enjoying writing and playing and not thinking too much about creating a finished collection of songs,” he said.

Countdown to U2: Watch Bono Pay Tribute to Longtime Manager Live on 6/17/11 in Anaheim, Calif. [VIDEO]

U2-360-tour-image Countdown to U2: Celebrate a week of U2 in the Local Music Beat blog, as I countdown to Sunday's Spartan Stadium show with fresh, U2-inspired posts.

When U2′s 360° tour wraps up this July, it will have clocked over $700 million dollars. That makes it the highest grossing tour of all time. (It exceeded the Rolling Stones’ previous record back in April.)

While that revenue is astounding, it’s not hard to grasp when considering U2’s dedicated, all-ages fan base, and the band's continual outpoor of appreciation for their fans and colleagues.

U2 – who finally hits Spartan Stadium Sunday (June 26) – wrapped up two back-to-back, sold-out shows in Anaheim, Calif., last weekend. Bono took the opportunity to thank U2’s longtime manager, Paul McGuiness, who he credits for the band’s success.

Bono said McGuiness had been at almost every U2 gig but had "never been on a U2 stage. Without this man, things might have turned out a little differently,” reported Spinner.

So, on McGuiness’ 60th birthday, Bono pulled him into the limelight.

"For the first time ever on a U2 stage, Paul McGuiness," Bono said, directing the 50,000+ crowd in a sing-along of “Happy Birthday.”

Bono also dedicated “Pride (In The Name of Love)” to Maria Shriver. Who knew they were friends?
