Weekend Riff: Maroon 5 and Train Team Up, Crossroads Church Rocks the Loft, GTG Festivus Hits the Basement

-Friday: An Evening of Smooth Jazz returns to East Lansing on Friday, and performers pack international smooth jazz keyboard player Bob Baldwin, the Miller Group and 496 West. Mid-Michigan-based BMRW Promotions puts together the summer music series, which is in its seventh year. Read more about the show and other Lansing music weekend options in this week's What's On.

-Saturday: Crossroads Church presents a special fundraiser for Haiti with Kelly Deanne & The Octagon Band, (top) the Plug Ugly, Bridegroom, I am Eternity, Kelsey Rottiers & the Rising Tide. 100% of the proceeds benefit the World Relief efforts in Haiti. Doors are at 6 p.m., and tickets are $5 presale (via The Loft’s website) and $7 day of.

-Sunday: Feel-good rockers Maroon 5 and Train team up for a show at Soaring Eagle Casino and Resort on Sunday, and singer-songwriter Gavin DeGraw opens. The show takes place at Soaring Eagle's outdoor concert area. Find more information in this week's What's On. FYI: This show just sold out! 

-Also Sunday: Good Time Gang (GTG) Records holds the GTG Festivus Part 3 Sunday at Basement 414 in Lansing, and the line-up is rich with Lansing music and indie rockers: Jack Pine Snag, Narc Out the Reds, Calliope, Stargrazer, Cat Midway, the Break-Ups, Braver, Middleman, Fade to Black, Velouria Caywood and the Hat Madder.

The show, which starts at 5 p.m., welcomes home Lansing alternative rock darlings Narc Out the Reds and The Hat Madder from their east coast tour. Oh, and it's a pot-luck style show, so bring something to share!

Basement 414 is located right behind the Nuthouse. The show is free, but donations are greatly appreciated.
