Lansing Band Cheap Girls Readies Debut Rise Records Album, 'Giant Orange' [with Audio]

Lansing pop-punk band Cheap Girls has entered the majors. The longstanding trio signed to Rise Records this fall, the same label behind successful national groups such as Bleeding Through, In Fear and Faith and Of Mice & Men. Now, the guys are prepping to release the follow-up to their sophomore full-length, 2009’s "My Roaring 20's," with none other than Tom Gabel of Against Me! producing. The 10-track album, “Giant Orange,” arrives Feb. 21.

As for upcoming shows, Cheap Girls -- featuring guitarist Adam Aymor, drummer Ben Graham and bass player / vocalist Ian Graham -- plays a special Christmas gig at Mac’s on Christmas night! Lansing musician Ben Hassenger will play a solo set, followed by a full Cheap Girls show. Rumor is Santa Claus will be there, too. If you’re new to Cheap Girls, note that fans of the Lemonheads, Dinosaur Jr. and the Replacements will likely enjoy the band's catchy alternative sound.

Rise Records has also posted a video featuring a new Cheap Girls demo called, “Cored to Empty.” Watch and listen below, and then sample a brand new Cheap Girls song, "Ruby," at the bottom of the page! (Photo credit: Ryan Russell.)
