Lansing-based Filmmaker is ‘Michigan Independent Filmmaker of the Year’

Michigan Independent Filmmaker Of the Year 2012Congratulations are in order for Lansing-based filmmaker Michael McCallum, who was awarded “Michigan Independent Filmmaker of the Year 2012” from the Uptown Film Festival in Detroit. McCallum recently held a short film premiere there for “Slow Burn,” which also won an Honorable Mention for Best Short Film.

McCallum was quick to thank everyone involved with his projects, including “the whole Rebel Pictures’ team, past and present, William C. McCallum, Anthony E. Griffin, Jonathan Worful, Marianne J. Bacon, and Stuart Poltrock (of Sound Post Recording Studios).”

“This was not done alone and the work that I've had the honor to direct wouldn't be what it is without these folks and our incredible casts, crews, musicians and local businesses that helped contribute so much to these productions!” McCallum said. “There's too many names to list but you are all important! Thank you for your support and your time and talents! WE truly are a family and I care about you all so much.

“This is for Lansing and for Michigan. For the underdog and for everyone that stays to watch the fight, even if everyone else says it's over. Buffalo is next on the block from us! I'm so excited to begin filming at the end of this month. God bless you and thank you Robert Butler and the Uptown Film Festival for acknowledging our work.” For more information on McCallum's shows, please visit Rebel Pictures' official site.
