Weekend Riff: Live Music Highlights for Easter Weekend

What to do Easter weekend? Find plenty of live music happening in town in the Weekend Riff!

-Friday: Lansing native Ben Keeler moved to Chicago years ago, but he loves coming to his hometown to play a show every once in a while. Ben Keeler and the 500 Club bring their rock and roll to the Loft in Lansing on Friday, with openers Revolution Nation, Bear Lake and Jonesday.

Joe Hertler and the Rainbow Seekers-Saturday: Popular Mount Pleasant-based group Joe Hertler and the Rainbow Seekers bring their wispy, indie folk-rock tracks to Mac’s Saturday for “Joe Hertler’s Rainbow Fest.” The lineup features Joe Hertler & the Rainbow Seekers, Valentiger, Alco, Redbird, Red Pill, Skinny Black and Sloan Kettering and Parent the Seas. For tickets, hit up Fusion Shows’ official site.

-Saturday: Our Lady Peace has a new album out, “Curve,” and a new tour to go with it. The “Superman’s Dead” rockers, fronted by Raine Maida, play St. Andrew’s Hall in Detroit Saturday. For tickets, visit Live Nation.

-Sunday: Have a wonderful Easter!

-Just around the bend: Ann Arbor rockers Taproot (top photo) release their new album, “The Episodes,” Tuesday at the Machine Shop in Flint. Being kids of the nu-metal era, Taproot have learned to reshape their metal to adapt to the genre’s marked evolution, and that really comes out on the album’s first single, “No Surrender.” Check out the latest from the band via their official site.
