Weekend Riff: Local Shows to Rock the Weekend

-Friday: No stranger to Michigan, Huntington, W.V.-based hard rocker Bobaflex (above) hits Uli’s Haus of Rock in Lansing on Friday, May 4. The group is playing a selection of headlining shows leading up to their appearance at Rock on the Range music festival on May 19 in Columbus, Ohio, and Lansing is one of them!

-Friday: East Lansing’s Frontier Ruckus plays a year-end show at the Loft in Lansing Friday, along with local groups Gifts or Creatures and Gun Lake.

Frontier Ruckus' songs present memorable melodies and wispy textures that recall a warm summer night, lounging on a rustic porch somewhere along the Great Lakes.

Expect some folk jams with a ton of edge and power.

-Saturday: The annual Mighty Uke Day takes over Old Town, Lansing, this Saturday, bringing a concert, movie showings, open mic opportunities, group strums, children’s events, workshops, an art exhibit, a ukulele museum and more to Mid-Michigan, all in the name of the mighty ukulele.
