Weekend Riff: DeverauX EP Release Show, Oktoberfest and More
-Saturday: Lansing’s DeverauX (above) makes riveting metal music complete with heavy rhythms, catchy hooks and mighty lyrics. The guys took home top honors at last December’s “Q106 Homegrown Throwdown,” and now, they’re ready to unleash their debut EP.
“The Last of Us” arrives Saturday during the band’s EP release show at Uli’s Haus of Rock. Expect to see the band -- drummer David Floyd, guitarist Chas Millican, vocalist Phil LaMay and bass player JD Younk -- in full action, and plenty of area metal fans! For more information, head to Uli’s Facebook page.
-Saturday: Temesgen Hussein Temesgen plays two traditional instruments from Ethiopia: the Krar, a six-string lyre, and the Begena, a ten-string harp. Hear his collection of old spiritual and love songs at Altu’s Ethiopian Cuisine on Saturday. It’s a free show, to boot!
