Free Download: Bermuda Snohawk 2012
It's here: the Bermuda Snohawk 2012 Christmas compilation! Each year, the gents of local record label and production company Bermuda Mohawk Productions put together a compilation of Christmas-themed tunes from local bands. This year's release, titled "Bermuda Snowhawk 2012," packs tracks from 22 indie bands spanning everything from reggae to punk to alt-rock. Best of all, it's free!
"The Holidays are obviously a busy time for everyone, so every year that rolls around, I find myself thinking, 'Wow, this may be the year we don't find time to get together a Bermuda Snohawk,'" said Cale Sauter of Bermuda Mohawk Productions. "This has been the case for the past three years or so and it always, inevitably, leads to me talking to Tommy McCord (of The Plurals and Good Time Gang records), who convinces me it can be done."
He added that this year’s compilation is "very much the collaborative efforts of a large handful of local musicians who need to get the songs out of their systems that don't fit their ‘bread and butter’ bands. This resulted in a wildly ecclectic exercise that took place over roughly a week of recording and resulted in everything from joke songs to sincere songs to reggae to ukelele space rock and beyond. The results are often, surprisingly, listenable and it is certainly indicative of what a group of Lansing musicians in their 20's and 30's are up to around this time of the year."
