Weekend Riff, your weekly dose of concert information
-Friday: Get your metal on with a lengthy metallic bill at the Loft on Friday, including Europe’s Make Me Famous along with Get Scared, Heartist, I Am King, Even Cameras Lie, It Lies Within and Above the Abyss.
-Saturday: Jamie-Sue Seal and John Latini will host the Jammin’ Round Holiday Showcase on Saturday with talented guest artists J. Oscar Bittinger from Grand Rapids and Daniel Bracken from the Mount Pleasant area. For this installment of the Jammin' Round with Jamie-Sue Songwriters Series, expect to hear some festive songs of the season and a good bit of comic relief!
This series will celebrate its 10th season in April of 2013. It’s the only traditional in-the-round set-up in the Midwest region. Tickets are $10 in advance online and $12 at the door and are available at the Smokin' Sleddog Records site or at Brown Paper Ticketes.

-Saturday: It’s all about neo-folk Saturday at Mac’s in Lansing, with Doug Mains and the City Folk, Gifts or Creatures and Go Long Mule performing live.
-Saturday and Sunday: The Laingsburg Community Singers have been busy these past few weeks, as last week, the group performed their “Handel’s Messiah” show with the Shiawassee Chamber Orchestra, and now, they’re gearing up for another round of concerts. The LCS will hold their annual Christmas shows this Saturday at 7 p.m. and Sunday at 4 p.m. at St. Isidore Church, located at 310 Crum St. in Laingsburg, Mich. Expect for a delightful mix of Holiday and Christmas music. Free will offering.
The Laingsburg Community Singers have been providing choral music for the mid-Michigan area since 1976, and the group is made up of community members from all over the area. Steven Easterling of St. Johns has served as Laingsburg Community Singers director since 2001.
Plan on it: The Hat Madder frontman Isaac Vander Schuur will play at the Loft in Lansing on Thursday along with Terror, Terror Oh! My! (K-zoo), Doctor Jones (Lansing) and Mister Hipster (Bloomington, Ind.). For more on the show, head to the Loft's official website!
