Local Listen: The Aimcriers to Release 'Solid State World' Vinyl at The Record Lounge

SSW3Grand Ledge-based Americana group the Aimcriers released their debut full length album, "Solid State World," digitally late last year, and now, they're ready to release the set on vinyl. The band is going to jam its stuff into The Record Lounge in East Lansing and perform the whole album, plus some other originals and covers, on Saturday (Feb. 22) at 7 p.m. for their vinyl release show.

Recorded and mixed at multiple locations in Arizona and Michigan and mastered at GBP Studios in East Lansing, “Solid State World” offers the Americana and “folkabilly” sound the band has earned a name playing.

"One reason why we wanted to release 'Solid State World' on vinyl was because vinyl is how we discovered music growing up," said guitarisat and vocalist Johnny Aimcrier. "Sure, the radio played a big part, but spending your own money on a record was a big deal in hearing songs over and over, where multi-layered instruments could really be appreciated.

"Another reason for vinyl is that there is something tactile and organic about placing the needle on the record and watching the record spin that intensifies the musical experience, it won't make our songs better, but the participation in the listening event is stronger and heightened.

"The third reason is captured in the lyrics of Once Is An Accident."

The Aimcriers are Johnny, Andy Aimcrier (guitars, vocals), and Danny Aimcrier (drums, percussion, vocals). For more on the band, head to www.Facebook.com/TheAimcriers.
