Yet another reason to work out

We all know the many, many benefits of being physical. It's good for your body and mind and now I'm starting to see how it's good for your soul.

This week has been a tough one to get myself out of bed. I think it might be the sudden drop in temperature or something. The last few weeks I was up and ready to hit the pool but this week the warm covers just seem so inviting.

Still I have been forcing myself to get up and moving and get to the Y for my swim and I think I know why.

Each morning I am greeted by Dick, Ester, the life guard Mike and who ever else happens to be swimming that morning.

Even though it's early and I'd rather be asleep or at least at work getting a head start on things, Ester and Dick and others have a lot of "good morning Emilys" to dish out and I just have to be there to get them.

The other day one guy (who I'll have to get his name) ask me how I was. And honestly once I've jumped into the pool and gotten my first 100 out of the way I'm feeling pretty damn good. So I said "great" and asked how he was. He said he was "Blessed."
And it got me thinking and I said "ya know what, so am I."

It might sound corny but really I am. I am so lucky that I am healthy and strong and able to get up and swim laps, which is something I really do enjoy.

Anyway, if you're looking for yet another reason to work out, maybe you should join Ester, Dick and I at the pool sometime.

Comments

I hope Ester and Dick see this -- that is the nicest thing I've read in a long time.
