So, the cold weather has me feeling like a movie every three seconds thus I've seen a number of movies in the past couple of weeks. Here are the highs and lows of what I've seen.
First up was "Zach and Miri Make a Porno"
I actually went to see this at the theater which is kind of a big deal for me since my better half is let's say...thrifty about paying big bucks to see anything other than a sci-fi or action flick on the big screen. But let me just say I'm glad we went to see this.
Take a hint from the title, it is about making a porno so it is kinda graphic but it's also a super sweet love story that involves a class reunion scene which I just adore because Matt and I are close to experiencing the hell that is your 10 year reunion. All in all I liked this movie because life is so serious and blah most of the time it is really a great retreat to watch a movie that is mindless and just plain funny.
Next up was something so mindless and stupid that I can't believe I sat through it. "Maid of Honor" OMG horrible, horrible movie. Actually it was soooo bad that it was funny. Basically Matt and I sat on our couch and made fun of it the entire time. Do NOT waste your time seeing it I can't even explain how bad it was. The acting, the story, the whole thing. That movie is dead to me.
Next up was "Forgetting Sarah Marshall."
This movie was maybe not as hysterical as I would have expected and actually Matt was a little bored with it (I can tell because he starts eating pudding packs at an alarming rate when he is bored) but I found it completely enjoyable. Again, a bit graphic (although we own it so we watched the extended version, maybe that's worse nudity wise than the version shown in theaters) but funny. And actually the film takes a pretty realistic view of what would happen if you got dumped after a 5 1/2 year relationship. It's flat out sad but of course being from the guys who brought you "40-Year-Old Virgin" and "Knocked Up" it's sad with a ton of funny.
Last night Netflix delivered "Run Fatboy Run." Really liked this movie! It was a bit too heart warming and touching to watch over and over (I don't like to cry when I watch movies) but it was super cute. Of course it too had some gross humor (I don't know what is wrong with me) but all in all it was a movie about true love and proving yourself with some laughs along the way. I can definitely recommend this one.
On my list of must sees right now is also "Role Models." Obviously it won't be winning any Oscars but I've heard from some reliable sources that is is hilarious. I'm also looking forward to the sure-to-be-cheesy holiday film "Four Christmases" starting Vince Vaughn and Reese Witherspoon.
So what have you seen lately? What are you looking forward to seeing?

Yes, this is such superb movie making.
Geez, does Hollywood have any idea that there's more audience out there, other than the younger people?
The title says it all~~this is kind of sad, when you read that this is the top movie maker at the box office, currently.
There's no acting in these movies.
This are as dumb as they come.

Are there any good movies out there?
Doesn't seem like it, if you're basing them on the type of movie, like "so and so's great porno movie".
What kind of movie is that?
My heavens, what's happened to the directors, producers and writers creativity?
If that's the best, I wouldn't want to see the "worst-movie" list.
Madagascar 2~~I know that's aimed at kids, but the lines are hilarious. The creativity in it (Steven Speilberg~~DreamWorks), is superb.
Now, if we could get a few more movies for adults with the same talent of writing behind it, we'd be all set.
The only good ones are ones written/directed/produced, by the likes of Eastwood, Speilberg, or Ron Howard.
