Bachelor of the year?

CosmoguyMeet Christopher Stewart. A 1998 graduate from Bath High School, he is currently teaching and coaching in Olivet Michigan and he's one of 51 guys hoping to be named Cosmo Magazine's Bachelor of the Year 2008.

If you like what you see (or if you want to see what the bachelors in other parts of the country are like) click here to vote.

Here's what else Christopher's write up at Cosmo's online site had to say
Sporty stud: "I'm into snowboarding, basketball, running, and baseball. Part of the reason I became a coach is because I love sports."
If he had a superpower: "I'd want to be immortal so I could experience everything without any fear."
Favorite female body part: "Sparkly eyes of any color"
Wow him by wearing: "Short shorts and a tank top"
Dating deal breaker:  "If she complains constantly. That type of girl finds the bad in every scenario."

For more info (sorry his phone number isn't listed) click here.

Hosting an event?

GroupathollyLast Sunday Matt's mom threw me a wedding shower of sorts (there were no games!) at the Historic Holly Hotel in Holly, Mich.

It was a wonderful time. It was so nice to get to spend time with my new family, along with my already existing family in this beautiful and historic place.
The hotel, which you can no longer actually stay in, is filled with antiques and divided up into many private rooms, many of which are perfect for hosting events. In fact, along with my shower there was a baby shower going on up stairs.

WW '08 The wedding planner

Mission157 days to go!!!

In the past two weeks I've talked with two wedding planners on Mackinac Island, which is where Matt and I are getting married.

We were deciding between two venues but ultimately chose Mission Point Resort because the cost was reasonable (well as reasonable as a destination wedding can be).
Anyway, these conversations have lead me to believe a couple of things about wedding planners. 1. They are possibly the nicest people in the world and 2. They must hate their lives.

Snowy shmoozing

Well, the turnout wasn't huge, but the conversation was lively last night during the first 2nd Tuesdays in Old Town event, also known as Shmooze on Tues. The snow that seemed to carry on from mid-afternoon right through rush hour was the likely factor in keeping many people from venturing out to Grace and elsewhere in Old Town for some wine and socializing. The NOISE staff had fun hanging out with Grace owner Summer Schriner and Old Town's Jamie Schriner Hooper and Shannon Rolley. Plus, we heard that many of the restaurants, especially Pablo's, Rendezvous on the Grand and Portable Feast, had good crowds as people took advantage of the food and drink specials. If you missed out this month, don't worry - there'll be another one in March. And hopefully then, the snow will stay away.

Halloween is coming

LaineHalloween is just around the corner and I don't think there has been a year when I have been so unprepared.

I going to blame my birthday, the hot weather for making me forget it's fall, the fact that my b/f and I have been looking at houses and my super low bank account but being that we are mere weeks away from one of my favorite holidays I've gotta kick it into high gear.

Pulaski Days - Gotta Love 'Em

Poland I'm half Polish and outside of going to Detroit, there's not a lot of Polish culture around here. Friday, I checked out the Pulaski Days at the Federated Polish Home in Lansing and I couldn't have been happier. The place smelled like my grandmother's house and it's about a close to home as I've felt since I've been here.

Fun things to do in the fall

OK, so technically it's not fall yet, but it sure feels like it. When I think of fall, I think of cider mills and corn mazes. Here are some places to go and things to do within a short drive of Lansing:

- Bestmaze Corn Maze and Mini Golf, 3770 Noble Road, Williamston: Wander through 20 acres of agricultural labyrinth cut into a western theme with bison, covered wagons, a steam locomotive and mini golf, $7. Info: www.bestmaze.com.
