Dine and dash

I doubt there are many people in the world who can say that not once but twice in their life they have left a restaurant without paying. But I am one of those people.

I mean, it's not like I'm trying to steal food. I know I'm a bigger girl but stealing food is just, well, it's below me. And it's not even like I was drinking either time this happened.

I am just simply an air head who gets so into her conversation with her dining partner that we both just walk out and leave.

The first time it happened I had already made it back to the office before I realized I didn't pay. I went back the next day and paid. And they remembered.

Today, however, Tif and I finished eating, went to the bathroom and headed for a short walk around East Lansing. It was in the beginning of said walk that the very kind host began chasing us down Abbot Road calling after us "hey you, you laidies forgot to pay your bill."

OMG how embarrassing. No matter how you swing it, it just looks like you were trying to leave without paying. Our poor waitress thought she did something wrong. But actually all she did was neglect to leave the bill on the table. So I guess we just forgot....

Oh well. And just for the record we paid in full today and I left a nice tip for the trouble.
Has anyone out there done this??

A perfect summer evening

Tower Last night I decided that I wanted (no, needed) to go out for ice cream despite the humid weather and the fact that Matt and I had ice cream in our freezer.

So, being the great guy that he is, Matt went along with it. We drove into East Lansing and got some delicious ice cream at Melting Moments.

Then I started to feel guilty for eating ice cream so I suggested a walk. We headed onto MSU campus and had an amazing time just checking the place out.

What's for dinner?

Now that I find myself a full on domestic diva (meaning I live with a boy who expects to eat a dinner I prepare at least a few times a week) I find myself in the constant struggle of what to cook.

Since we moved in together (about two months ago) I've had things pretty worked out. I do the grocery shopping in the beginning of the week and I've moved my workouts to the morning so I have time to cook. And I've had a pretty good rotation of meals going.
The problem is, after two months that rotation is getting old...very old.
I'm sick of cooking the same things and I'm sure he's sick of eating the same things.

T.G.I. Friday's

FridaysYet, another debate arises in the NOISE office this fine Friday.

I noticed today that it takes 11,000 of my Visa reward points to get a $25 gift card to T.G.I. Fridays and I was outraged because that seems like a lot of rewards for a gift card to a place that I think stinks. (I mean I'll eat there in a pinch but it's not my favorite)

Tovah was quick to speak up and say she loves Friday's and Brian was quick to follow. So what's your vote? Are you a Friday's fan or not??

What's with kids these days?

Pitchers So, my friends and I wanted to relive our youth the other day and headed to Rick's Happy Hour. Now, when we were students at MSU Rick's Happy Hour on Friday night was THE place to be. There was usually a line wrapped around the building by 3 p.m. The doors opened at 4 p.m. You paid cover and got to drink $2.50 pitchers and eat free pizza. (Sounds like good fun, huh?!?). Hence why we returned.

Um, wow how things have changed. Rick's was DEAD!! In fact we were the only people thereMarty until I think 6 p.m.

Apologies to a friend

So I heard from a friend today. I'd sort of lost touch with him in recent months - my busy schedule, my decision to try to give up eating out for lunch, my (pathetic) attempts to eat a bit healthier. He was enraged - "I thought I meant something. You don't even send me flowers", he scribbled on the to-go box with my picture taped to it as if I was a "wanted" person.
Inside, the to-go box was something I didn't even realize I had been missing.

Meijer shopping bags (I'm an official yuppie)

MeijerBrian has been using the reusable Meijer shopping bags for awhile now (he might have even blogged about it, he wrote about it in NOISE) and they were mentioned on the shopping blog and of course I see them at the store, but for some reason I didn't want to get them.

I guess it just felt too fake. I don't do jack for the environment and all of a sudden I'm going to use reusable shopping bags?? I'm just not that cool.

Free b-fast burritos!!

McdsToday (Thursday, Feb. 28) and tomorrow (Friday, Feb. 29 LEAP DAY) McDonald's is handing out free McSkillet breakfast burritos with the purchase of a drink.

My brother and his friends already cashed in on this deal this a.m. and let me tell you, nothing makes high school boys happier than free fast food! (But let's be honest it kind of makes everyone happy).

Anyway, if you're in the mood for some McD's b-fast head there.
Have a great Leap Day!

Time to binge

Since I've promised myself, my doctor and my skinny jeans that I'll return to my strict diet on Jan. 3 I've decided that the next few days should be filled with my favorite foods.

That way when I'm sipping on weight loss shakes and munching on weight loss bars (my method of weight loss is to eliminate most foods, all carbs and bascially anything that's good) I won't feel so sorry for myself.

In turn I've been eating some of the most fattening foods I can get my hands on. Lunch was a burger and fries (probably my third or fourth combo of that kind in two weeks) and dinner might just be a $5 pizza.
Obviously I'm not going for gourmet goods here, I'm going for pure junk.

Any suggestions of what one of my last meals should be?

Get out of town: Library Sports Pub and Grill

Two of my best friends are from and currently live in Farmington Hills.
Being from a small town when I first met them years ago the idea of the suburbs was kind of cool and for a hot minute I wished I'd grown up where BMWs were your standard 16th birthday present and a Coach bag was pretty much mandatory but as time went on and I visited them more I realized I kind of hate the suburbs.

A 15 mile drive is a 30 minute trip, chain restaurants pollute the place and good luck trying to eat, shop or drink in a place that isn't in a strip mall.
