Tide pen still a winner

TideSince I am wearing white pants today I of course dumped coffee all over them this morning while getting into my car from the bakery/ coffee place.

After dropping some f-bombs I headed right to the drug store and picked up a Tide to go pen. I hadn't used one in a really long time but figured I'd give it a try.
Honestly, it did a pretty good job. As soon as I got to work I dabbed cold water on top of where I'd used the pen and now there is only a faint sign of the coffee.
So yeah, I'm annoyed but just thought I'd point out that the Tide pen is definitely still worth keeping on your purse!

Maybe I can eat more carbs...

I am not sure how many of you reading this are having to take a different route around downtown Lansing because of the construction on Grand Avenue, but if you do than you'll understand my pain.

Not only do LSJ staffers have to take a different driving way to our parking lot we now have to walk an extra block (around the big old hole in the middle of Grand) to get to our building.

Now yesterday and today and hopefully the rest of the week, this won't be a big deal b/c the weather is nice but I can just imagine how happy we'll all be the first time it rains in this set up...uggg

On the plus side, I'm guessing adding extra blocks to my entrance and exit from work (which on some days takes place many, many times) means I can add extra carbs to my diet. I can always find a bright side :)

In the meantime good luck to those changing their daily routine b/c of the construction and feel free to share what your change has been on here.

The shopping season has our staff busy

GiftguideI wish I could say it's because we're out shopping for our loved ones but we're actually out shopping for our NOISE readers.

We're putting together our annual gift guide so that readers are sure to have a great gift for everyone on their list be it a fashionista, a foodie, a mom, a dad, an athlete and more.

The guide publishes next Wednesday, Nov. 21 but with our deadline fast approaching the blog has been suffering. We apologize but promise the results will be well worth it!

Movin', movin', movin'...

FINALLY, we've sold our house and are moving to the Lansing area. Nothing against where I live now - the lovely metropolis of Howell - but after a while it just gets a little tiring for both of us to be driving 35-plus minutes each way to get to work. We had our house on the market for over a year - four month doing it ourselves and then nearly a full year with a realtor - but finally someone bought our place. We're still waiting for all the final details to fall in the place, but we're very excited about our new home here too.

Psychic connection

Greenmachine Well, it's official the NOISE staff is spending way too much time together.

Arriving at work this morning some staffers (who shall remain nameless) were made aware that they were all wearing the same outfit. Green shirts with khakis and brown shoes. (See picture) Other newspaper employees were sickened by the connection, calling the staff 'weird,' 'strange,' 'crazy,' and ' scary.' Although the staff also found the situation disturbing they understood what had happened, chalking it up to a mere coincidence would cheapen what it was. This was nothing short of a psychic connection, that only proves how much they are all meant to be in the office together, creating the wonderful product that is NOISE.

Spring is here

Spring_small It's official.  So I know it was actually spring on March 20, but even with day-light savings kicking in this weekend I needed something more.  Yesterday's near 70 degree day and my first bit of a sunburn helped, but there were a few things missing.  The thunderstorms, lightning, rain and rainbows. If you missed it, here's a photo of a crisp full rainbow looking East out the NOISE office windows at about 5 p.m. today.  Somewhere over in East Lansing there's gold, and a bit of spring.

TGIF

Friday is by far my favorite day! There is this weird sense of freedom. Not like work is prison or anything but when it's Friday the weekend just holds so much promise. You never know what will happen, but it'll probably be fun. This Friday is even better, because I think it might actually be fall. I don't want to speak too soon, but seriously I'm feeling the weather and I'm loving it!! Who's with me?

Happy Birthday Emily

BirthdaycakeEmily is officially, almost 24.  Only a few hours left until the big bash. But we just couldn't wait for the cake.  Here is the first of two cakes, yup two. Carla is making her famous dollar-store decorated cake for tomorrow.

Quote this

Quotes_2We all say stupid things some times,  but taken out of context they get even funnier. Here are a few quotes from the office.  Including Carla's soon to be infamous "celebrating a life" quote.
