Aaron Coulson transforms into Hedwig for a Noise cover shoot:

Coulson plays the lead in "Hedwig and the Angry Inch" produced by the Peppermint Creek Theatre Company. The musical opens Friday at the Hannah Community Center in East Lansing.

Local black WWI veterans are delegated to the last page of "Honor Roll and Complete History of Ingham County in the Great World War, 1914 to 1918." David Votta, librarian and archivist with the Capital Area District Library, produced an exhibit about the veterans. The exhibit, compiled with assistance by local historian Jesse Lasorda, will be on display in front of the Forest Parke Library & Archives, in the basement of the downtown branch of the Capital Area District Library at 401 S. Capitol Ave., from February 1 to 26.

Potter Park Zoo will face drastic staff cuts if Ingham County voters
don't pass a special tax to fund the zoo Tuesday, according to Gerald

Dozens of dogs dove into the lake at Hawk Island Park Friday during the fall Dog Paddle. Twice a year the park allows dogs as a fundraiser for Friends of Greater Lansing Dog Parks, a group trying to create a public, off-leash dog park. "It's the best day of Toby's life. This is what he lives for," said Kris Tuchek, owner of a black-and-white one-year-old mixed breed. For more information visit www.lansingunleashed.com.

The mentoring program at the Youth Development Corporation is all about helping kids do better in school. And it's all about fun, too. The program matches adults with kids ages 10 to 15. Anyone can apply, but there's always a waiting list of kids needing adult male mentors. If you're interested in volunteering call the YDC at (517) 482-2081.
