It's down to the holiday shopping wire, especially for those who waited for the last weekend and then got disrupted by the weather. What are your favorite last-minute gift solutions?
If you're an online shopper, many Web sites are offering free second-day delivery if you order yet today. If not, I've seen several store ads promoting 50 percent or more savings.
Do you have suggestions for last-minute gifts? Some possibilities:
--Holiday decor items, which you can find now discounted by 50 percent or more. Ornaments, candle, table runner or other holiday linens. You'll get good value.
--Gifts of food. Many special holiday-packaged items will be getting discounted in grocery and variety stores as the clock ticks toward Christmas Eve.
--Gift certificate to a grocery/variety store which can be used for food or merchandise. Practical and will be appreciated.
--Really desperate last minute items from the convenience store: A jug of egg nog or a bottle of wine or spirits. Scratch-off lottery tickets can be a fun gift, too.
